Celebrating Deity Azunsun and Ganlodo Flag Day

This weekend Dedagbe 26-28 6261 (January 8-10, 2021 Gregorian calendar) we celebrate the deity (goddess or female deity in this case) Azunsun and the 6258 (2017 Gregorian year) creation and adoption of the official flag of Ganlodo. Azunsun is about the respect and ecology of the earth as well as war for the right cause. She is not benevolent in her obtaining such respect for the earth. Since she is about just war she represents the holy war in our traditions. One can learn more about many of the authentic deities of African Vodun from our publication Sacred Gods of Vodun: The Descriptions Vol 1 at http://www.restorationhealing.com/sacred-african-vodun-gods/ The Official Ganlodo Flag with All N'ko Script We also have a publication called Lore of the Gods: Authentic Stories of the Afrikan ...

Celebrating the Maroon Revolutionary Spirit of the German Coast Uprising

Revolutionary and Maroon greetings to all Afrikans. Today we celebrate the spirit of what was the largest Afrikan captive (our ancestors were captives, not slaves) uprisings that happened on the Andry captive Plantation in the area in 6053 AX (January 8-10, 1811 Gregorian calendar) called the German coast - named after the infestation of many German migrants in the area. It is often called the German Coast or Andry Uprising. Neither of these names give it justice. So we have named it the Gufon German Coast - awakening the spirit of the deity of war, Ogun, in German Coast. We say in the Aja language:  ߡߌ ߘߏ ߜ߳ߋ ߜ߳ߏߟߌ ߟߍ ߊߤߥߊߣ ߜ߯ߎߝߐߣߕߐ ߟߍ ߘߏ ߦߌߦߌ ߜ߯ߎߝߐߣ Mi do kpe kpoli lee ahwan gufonto lee do yiyi gufon! All praises and upliftment to the spirits of those warriors who lead the uprising agai...

Fongbe Primer: Functional Fon Language for Our Everyday World

Fongbe Primer: Functional Fon language for our Everyday World is the first book written by an "African American" on the Fon language spoken primarily in Southern Benin Republic, but also in as wide a range extending from Southwest Nigeria to Ghana; also used as a ritual language in Brazilian Candomble as Jeje, and as the basis for the creole language of Ayiti (Haiti). Fongbe Primer is an excellent work for those in the beginner to intermediary stages of studying the Fon language of Southern Benin Republic. Fongbe Primer contains not only a dictionary and many complete phrases, but it is rich with terminology expressing the deep history and philosophy of the people. Many African Vodún terms are included and explained. For the first time we have an intelligible, easy to study and read Fon-E...
