Council of Priests - Ɛgbɛ Lanhuntɔ́
The Ɛgbɛ Lanhuntɔ́ Council of "Priests" at Gànlɔdó exists for the proper and consistent training of all of our functioning ߤߎ߬ߣߣߐߣ hùnnɔn, ߏߟߏ߬ߙߌ߬ߛ߭ߊ߬ olòrìṣà, and ߓߏ߯ߞߏߣߐߣ bõkonɔn ("priests"). It consists of the minimum 3 year pre-initiation training that is and the guide for priestly living and protocol post initiation. It is a school of its own where all details are laid out for those of who are set to work for and in our communities.
This council is responsible for testing the potential priest to see if she/he is ready for actual initiation after the training period. Character assessment is paramount in this test. With such a council in place, we make sure that a standard is set and carried out and we all are on the same page. Our guide in this endeavor is in the 287 page The Gànlɔdó Priest Handbook.
*note - We really do not using the term "priest" as it does not properly capture what our initiates in Afrikan culture truly are. This, we aim to normalize the Afrikan names and titles for our offices and get to the point of not using certain European terms. The ReAfrikanization continues on!
